GFI Backup Home Edition

I came across a great personal backup utility the other day. GFI Backup Home Edition is a backup utility that is free for personal use, runs on all Windows platforms (even the ancient ones that you should no longer be running,) and does a pretty good job sticking with standards like zip compression, and encryption that is compatible with 7-zip.

You can download the software from GFI’s website, or if you want more information first, there is a really great review posted over at the Don’t Lose Your Data website. The review goes through the features, options, and gives a nice quick tour of the software. You should check out the review, and then take the software for a test drive. You can thank me later.

Then come back and watch this educational video from the Institute for Backup Trauma. Consider it a PSA for sysadmins everywhere. Disk it or risk it!
