lest the tubes become overfull…

We interrupt your morning to bring you the following announcement 2011-02-23

This just in…Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 SP1 is now available! It was available briefly on Windows Update, but is not showing for all systems just yet. You can download it from Microsoft, using link http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=c3202ce6-4056-4059-8a1b-3a9b77cdfdda. The download weighs in at almost 2GB, so if you are only going to update one machine, you may want to just check Windows Updates until it shows up again, as you will only have to download parts of the whole.

Of course, if you have several machines to patch, the full download is the way to go. However, BE WARNED.  You must have KB2454826 installed before you install SP1, lest you encounter the dreaded blue screen. Using Windows Update installs this for you…manually installing assumes you have checked this yourself. You have been warned. Remember, not only does SP1 ensure you are up to date on all the latest patches, and will make you the envy of all your friends, for 2008R2 Hyper-V servers is brings you Dynamic Memory!

Here’s another announcement for you too.
